Follow Friday: Blogging Resolutions

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

Resolutions: Put together your blogger resolution list for us to see!

I kind of threw up my hands when I first saw the question for this week. I've just done SO many resolutions lists this week already. But then I realized it said "blogger" resolution list, and that's much easier. :D

Source
1) I'd love to get 2,000 followers on my blog, which is roughly double what I have now. I don't have an uber-specific plan for doing this. Just try to interact more, be a better commenter, and continue to deliver quality content that people want to read. 2,000 is a just a number to aim for.

2) I plan to consolidate my blogs. For the past year and a half, I've run two book blogs successfully. Not only is there a lot of time involved, but having two URLs can be tricky. Which do you promote more, especially when they have similar subjects? I'm currently putting together a .com website that will be a central hub for all my books. Once it's ready, I'll consolidate my two blogs to one and import it to the site. I'll probably transition to that in the next 2-3 mos.

3) I want to get other specific numbers up; not just followers. Right now I get roughly 3,000 hits per month to my blog. I'd like to triple that. I'd also like to increase the number of comments/interaction I get. I'm thinking 5+ comments per day, and more sharing of my posts via social media. Of course being active on social networks will help drive these numbers, which is the main way I'll tackle this goal.

4) Giveaways! I'm guilty of doing very few giveaways. I think I either did one or two in 2013. *smacks self on forehead* I'm going to aim for a giveaway every other month, even if it's just a few books. Wish me luck!

What are your blogging resolutions for 2014?

  1. Hopping through. Good luck on getting up to 2000 followers. I found commenting loads - on multiple memes - helped the most with that.

  2. Wow those are some great goals! Good luck! I'm a newbie blogger so I'm still trying to get the hang of things and make friends with people which is hard because I'm really shy, even if I'm talking to someone through a keyboard! I'm a new follower via gfc! :)

    1. Thanks for following, Becca. I'll hop over and follow you back. And don't worry, you'll get there. I remember being really shy at first, too, but both writing and blogging have upped my confidence a lot, and I'm much more outgoing, both online and in real life, than I used to be. Thanks for stopping by! :D

  4. Let us know when you merge the two together! I don't want to miss it,
Since the demise of Google Reader, new GFC followers have slowed to a trickle. I'm only forty-five away from two thousand and it's going to take everything I have to push that over.

    1. I'll definitely let you know, Alex. I'm thinking probably next month, just depending on how long it takes me to get my site going (really slow work right now). I'm sure you'll push past that threshold this year, too, though. With only 45 to go, you're much closer than I am. :D Happy Friday!

  5. Great goals! I don't want to add specific follower goals because it's not something I can do myself (as in, I can comment, but if nobody follows me, I can't really go change that). But it's on my secret wish-list for 2014. :-)

Followed through GFC (so hopefully I helped some with your goal!)

Check out my FF post for this week.

    1. Secret wish lists are great! I know what you mean about me not having control over specific numbers, but I find if I actually put the number out there, somehow, some way, I"m more likely to reach it. That's just me, though. Thanks so much for stopping by! :D

  7. Hi Liesel,
Thanks for the tips and the follow. I'm hoping to get you closer to your goal of 2000 followers by following on GFC. Also following you on pinterest, looks good and helpfull to see how a fellow blogger uses it.

  10. I'm a new blog lovin' follower. Wow 2000 would be a great number to hit. I'm trying to reach just 100. I'm like you I only did 1 giveaway last year and I am hoping to increase that this year. Hope you meet all your goals for this year!
